Help Save a Life - August Blood Drives in Burlington

By: Rich Hosford

Give blood and help save a life.

The American Red Cross is in the middle of a 100-day campaign called the “100 Days of Summer, 100 Days of Hope” that has the goal of increasing donations during the summer months, a time when donations typically drop.

Dr. Richard Benjamin, chief medical officer for the Red Cross, said it is important for people to donate throughout the year.

“It’s difficult to collect enough blood for patients during the summer because so many people are busy with seasonal activities and schools are out of session,” he said. “But the need for blood is constant and patients are still relying on lifesaving blood products.”
