Lahey Hospital Designated as an Accredited Lung Cancer Screening Center

By: BNews Weekly

Burlington’s Lahey Hospital and Medical Center recently became the first American hospital to be designated an accredited Lung Cancer Screening Center. This classification was granted by the American College of Radiology, which is one of the most significant medical associations in the United States. Joanne Conroy, MD, the chief executive officer at Lahey stated the hospital is honored to be designated a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the ACR, and that it will further aid Lahey in saving the lives of people in our community.  Lahey uses a multidisciplinary approach called Rescue Lung, Rescue Life which provides low-dose screenings at no cost to patients who meet certain high risk criteria.  Through this, Lahey has scanned more than 2,000 individuals in two years with a 75% detection rate at an early stage.  The mission of Rescue Lung, Rescue Life is to raise awareness of the lives that can be saved through early detection.  For more on cancer screenings at Lahey visit Lahey.org/LungScreening
