Library Holding 'Spooktacular' Book Sale

By: Rich Hosford

Get into the Halloween spirit and add to your home library.

The Friends of the Burlington Public Library is holding a “Spooktacular Book Sale” from Friday, Oct. 24 to Sunday, Oct. 26.

The book sale is one of two held each year to raise funds for the Friends of the Burlington Public Library and the library. The book sale features thousands of “previously read” books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs.

“Choose from general fiction, history, biography, travel, health, computing, home-improvement, hobbies and more,” a notice on the library’s web site states. “There is always an extensive collection of books, puzzles, music and films for children as well.”

There are also opportunities to  help out, the notice says. Volunteers are wanted to sort books and staff sales tables. Anyone interested can sign up at the library's front desk or email the Friends of the Library to offer at bplnews@gmail.com

Visitors to the book sale can also sign up to be a Friends of the Burlington Public Library member and current member with lapsed status can pay dues at the door. Members get discounts on items.

The hours for the book sale are:

  • - Friday, Oct. 24: 10:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • - Saturday, Oct. 25: 10:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • - Sunday, Oct. 26: 1:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

All books, CDs, DVDs and puzzles are $1. Children’s paperbacks are two for $1. On Sunday customers can get a paper bag for $5 and fill it with books.
