New Recycling Bins Coming to Burlington

By: BNEWS Weekly

In addition to the new soliciting bylaws, the Town Meeting assembly voted to authorize the transfer of $280,000 from the Recycling Materials Revolving Fund for the purchase of new 64-gallon, rolling recycling tote bins.  The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has granted $68,900 towards the barrels for a grand total of $350,000 in rolling recycling bins for the town.

The new containers are similar to the current trash barrels in that they can be picked up and emptied by trucks with a hydraulic arm.   According to DPW Director John Sanchez the new barrels could be curbside by as early as May.

Mr. Sanchez also let it be known that the recycling pick up schedule will not change.
