Photos: Burlington's Veterans Day Ceremony

By: Rich Hosford

A good sized crowd braved the cold rain Wednesday morning to honor the men and women in uniform who have risked all to protect our nation and its freedoms.

Burlington observed Veterans Day with an hour-long ceremony that recognized the town’s veterans for their service and commemorated the 50th anniversary of United States combat units being deployed to Vietnam.

The ceremony was led by Chris Hanafin, Burlington’s new Veterans Service Director. Former Burlington Police Chief William Soda was the guest speaker and Chaplin Mark Murphy read the invocation and closing prayer.

Music for the ceremony was provided by the Burlington High School Marching Band and the Select Singers.
