RMD Bylaw Set for Town Meeting

By: BNEWS Weekly

The Planning Board has approved a marijuana zoning bylaw that, if approved by Town Meeting, will be sent to the Attorney General’s office to be finalized. Burlington needs to have a marijuana zoning bylaw in place by June 30th or Registered Marijuana Dispensaries will be able to set up shop anywhere outside of a residential area by right.  Burlington’s Registered Marijuana Dispensary bylaw restricts RMDs within 1000 feet of schools or other places children congregate and 500 feet from places of worship.

Burlington has not been selected for a Middlesex County dispensary license. However, if it does, the current zoning map allows for RMD’s in areas of Middlesex Turnpike and Lahey Hospital, as well as Wheeler Road, Blanchard Road, Meadow Road, the Corporate Center Office Park and Cambridge Street.
