Schools Release Improvement Plans

By: BNEWS Weekly

The principals of the four elementary schools in Burlington as well as Burlington High School have released their improvement plans for the next year. The high school and elementary schools both plan to continue to integrate technology into the classrooms. Elementary school principals report that voice-amplifying microphones for the teachers help students stay focused, while tablets for each student increase both the quality and enjoyment of learning. The technology will also be used to help the elementary schools meet its second goal of continuing to follow the core curriculum.

BHS Principal Mark Sullivan stated that the high school plans to increase technology integration by making all grades and reports viewable for students, parents, and teachers online, eliminating the need for mailed report cards. Additionally, plans to improve high school programs such as BHS STARS work-study program, AP courses, and Dual Enrollment at Middlesex Community College.

While the elementary improvement plan was only a first reading, the BHS improvement plan was unanimously approved.
