A Burlington High School alum and fashion-blogger is the new Miss Massachusetts.

According to CBS Boston (WBZ), Whitney Sharpe, 21, was crowned Miss Massachusetts during the final competition at Lowell Memorial Auditorium on Sunday night. She was the first runner up last year.

Sharpe is currently a student at Lynn University where she is a double major studying broadcast journalism and fashion merchandising.

"Her dream is to secure a job as an on-air personality for an entertainment news network," the bio on the Miss Massachusetts website states. "She is a successful fashion blogger who loves to connect with people from all over the world, and has also enjoyed being a model since the age of five."

She graduated Burlington High School in 2013. While at the school she was a member of the BHS Varsity Football Cheerleading Team. According to her bio she maintains an interest in the healthy lifestyle.

"Fitness and nutrition is a big part of Whitney’s life because of her many years as a highly competitive cheerleader," it reads. "She has been able to demonstrate her healthy lifestyle in the swimsuit portion of the Miss Massachusetts USA pageant, hoping that others will follow her lead. She is a pescatarian who enjoys cooking healthy and clean meals that are delicious and flavorful. Whitney also loves being active outdoors, whether it comes to swimming, skiing, or paddle boarding. As Miss Massachusetts USA 2016, she plans to continue volunteering and raising awareness for the Best Buddies Organization, the American Cancer Society and Becca’s Closet."

Sharpe will next compete in the Miss USA competition in 2016.
