BHS Girls Hockey Playing Game in Memory of Former Teammate Killed in Accident

The Burlington High School Girls Hockey team will remember a former teammate who tragically died in a car accident this past summer.

On Saturday, January 30th the girls will host league rival, Watertown, in a game they are dedicating in honor of Krista Toscano. Toscano was a member of the BHS Class of 2014 and was a member of the Lady Devils hockey team for four seasons and was a captain her senior year.

“Tragically, we lost Krista this past year in an automobile accident that took her vibrant life at the young age of 19,” a message from the team reads. “She was the heart and soul of the Lady Red Devils Hockey Team and will be forever missed.”

Proceeds from the game will go to support a charity created in Krista’s honor. The BHS Athletic Department and Burlington School Committee are allowing all ticket sales for the Watertown game to be used towards the Krista Toscano Scholarship Fund.

“Let’s fill the rink with as many fans as possible - your paid attendance ($7) will support scholarships for two deserving senior Lady Devil hockey players, and more importantly, support the memory of our former teammate,” the notice from the team states.

Additionally, for any collectors out there, during the game there will be a raffle with dozens of valuable items, including:

- Bruins hockey stick (signed by 22 players)

- Zdeno Chara Bruins jersey (signed)

- Mike Eruzione USA jersey (signed)

- Gift cards & gift baskets to popular restaurants and shops

The game starts at 6 p.m. at the Burlington Ice Palace, 36 Ray Avenue.
