Burlington Truck Day Cancelled for 2015

By: Rich Hosford

Sad news for truck lovers, both young and old - a traditional Burlington event will not take place this year.

According to a post by the Burlington Recreation Department, Truck Day 2015 has been cancelled.

"We also apologize for the confusion as we were trying to find a way to salvage the program for this season," the department posted, adding the following for those that saw it in their list of upcoming events: "Unfortunately, we just could not get the logistics to work and we sincerely apologize for advertising it in our Fall Program Guide and any inconvenience it has caused."

The department did say it will work to bring the annual event back next year.

Some residents took to social media and posted their sadness of the cancellation on Facebook.

"We fully understand and share in everyone's disappointment," the department replied. "We are already looking forward to bringing this event back next year. Again, we apologize for the disappointment."

This would have been the 18th annual Truck Day. The event organizer, Al Fay, said when promoting Truck Day in the past it began as a way to highlight the work and equipment of the Department of Public Works. It then grew to feature a wide variety of vehicles, including new and old fire trucks, tractors and police vehicles.
