A Burlington woman has been indicted by a grand jury on charges that include attempted murder for an incident in Woburn earlier this year.

According to Middlesex District Marian Ryan’s office, Kaitelin Gallo, 20, of Burlington, has been charged with attempted murder, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, and assault and battery (2 counts). Another woman involved in the same incident, Melissa Buono, 20, of Woburn, has been charged with the same offenses.

According to the DA’s office, on Saturday, May 9, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Woburn Police responded to a call that a woman had been pulled out of a swamp on Locust Street. When police arrived at the scene officers found the victim covered in mud and with injuries on her face.

The victim was taken to Lahey Hospital where she told police that Gallo had beaten and threatened her while Buono had urged the attacker to continue the assault.

According to the DA’s office the suspects allegedly threw the victim’s phone in the water in an attempt to prevent her from calling for help.

These charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Jessica Hogan. The next court hearing in this case is scheduled for Friday, November 20, in Middlesex Superior Court.
