Children's Book by Burlington Author Now Available

By: Rich Hosford

A new children’s book by a Burlington author has hit the shelves.

Seacoo, written by Gemmesa Mercado under the pen name G. Johnson and illustrated by Yifan Luo, is now out. The book, aimed for children ages 4 to 10, tells the story of a panda bear cub, Seacoo, and his spunky friend, Coco.

As many good children’s books do, the story has a couple of lessons Mercado hopes her young readers will take away after reading or listening to it. In this book Seacoo learns that when his mom is away at work she is doing to take care of him and make sure he has what he needs. He also learns to find a love of reading.

“In this heart-warming tale, a lonely, inquisitive panda bear cub with a passion for reading learns a valuable lesson about friendship and forgiveness,” a release states.

Mercado is the mother of two young children who writes from her own parenting experience, making the book relatable to parents as well as youngsters. After spending years home-schooling her children, and having come from a long line of teachers, she also incorporates educational elements into her writing.

The book is, or soon will be, available at the Burlington Barnes & Noble, the Harvard Book Store and, among other locations.
