Christmas Closings and Last-Minute Shopping

By: Rich Hosford

Christmas is fast approaching and when it does, most people will be spending time with their families. That includes municipal, state and federal workers as the day is a national holiday and those offices will be closed.

In Burlington town office buildings, including Town Hall and the library, will close mid-day on Thursday and reopen on Monday.

Burlington Public Schools will start their vacation a little earlier. They are closed on Thursday and students will head back to class on Monday, January 4.

On Christmas day all retail, grocery and liquor stores will be closed. Restaurants will be open at the owner’s discretion. Most gas stations and convenience stores will be open.

For those looking to get some last-minute shopping done this week, you’re in luck if you hurry. The Burlington Mall and Best Buy are both open until 11 p.m.. through Wednesday and Kohl’s is open 24 hours through then. All those stores will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, however, so don’t wait too long.
