Fire Department Welcomes New Member

By: Rich Hosford

The Burlington Fire Department welcomed a new member on Monday night.

Town Administrator John Petrin appointed Michael Morgan, a Burlington resident and member of the Burlington High School Class of 2007, to the department at the recommendation of Chief Steve Yetman and Assistant Chief Michael Paterson.

“He comes highly recommended by several individuals, including Police Chief Michael Kent,” Yetman said of Morgan.

Morgan was chosen from a pool of six candidates sent in by Civil Service to fill one vacancy in the department. After an extensive interview process and background checks he was chosen for the position.

Yetman said Morgan spent five years in the United States Army and his last assignment was with Special Operation with the 75th Ranger Regiment where he had earned the rank of Sergeant. He was also a certified military EMT and is currently working on obtaining his Massachusetts EMT Certification.

“I had the pleasure to interview him in a prior scenario and he is a great young man who will bring a lot of pride to our department,” Petrin said. “I also want to thank him for his service overseas where he saw action defending our nation. I think he will be a great fit for the department and for this town. It is a pleasure to appoint him.”
