Friends Created Memorial for Krista Toscano at Burlington High

By: Rich Hosford

A temporary memorial made up of cups in the fence along Varsity Field at Burlington High School has been created in memory of a 2014 BHS graduate who passed away last Friday due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Krista Toscano, 19, of Lawrence, was reportedly in a vehicle that was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Route 93 on June 21st. She sustained signficantly injuries and succumbed to them on Friday, June 26 at Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.

Either over the weekend or on Monday morning, friends and former classmates had constructed a memorial to Krista at the entrance to Burlington High School. They spelled out RIP Krista using paper cups. Many also left flowers and someone left a softball (she both played and coached the game) in her honor.

As can be seen the "IS" in the middle of her name was also meant to look like the number 15, a nod to her jersey number on the BHS Varsity Hockey Team, where she was a captain.
