Goldfish Swim School and Indoor Pools Announce Spring Opening Date

By: Rich Hosford

A swimming school with an indoor pool is set to open this spring in Burlington.

Goldfish Swim School announced that it plans to open its doors and start teaching children how to swim on April 5 in their newest location at 10 B Street, near Terrance Hall Avenue.

The swim school occupied the existing 10,000 square foot building at the location and renovated it. The renovations included a 25-by-75-foot swimming pool that is four-feet deep throughout and a separate “dry area” for parents and caregivers to watch the swimming lessons.

Goldfish Swim School is a franchise that started 10 years ago in Michigan and now has 30 facilities in the country. It has recently moved into New England, a region a representative for the company called an “untapped market.”

The swim school teaches children from the age of infant up to about 10-years old how to swim in a safe and comfortable environment. They also have a swim team for children up to the age of 12 and they have Family Swim times to give parents a chance to join their children in the water. They also do birthday parties and special clinics.

Classes are kept small with no more than four students per instructor.

Unlike pools of yesteryear where children learned to swim while shivering a representative of the school said they keep their pools heated to 90 degrees and the air at 92 degrees.

The swim school offers what they call Perpetual Lessons, which allows a family to choose a lesson time that fits their schedule and then change the lesson time when their schedule changes.
