High Tech Bank Branch with Wi-Fi Lounge, ATM That Dispenses $1 Bills, Open in Burlington

There is a new high-tech banking branch in town that features a Wi-Fi lounge, an ATM that dispenses one dollar bills but has one noticeable element missing.

Hanscom Federal Credit Union opened a new branch in Burlington — and there are no tellers. Instead, there is a Wi-Fi lounge, a tablet bar, an ATM that dispenses ones and personal financial concierge service. The concierge takes care of all your financial transactions and answers your questions confidentially. Ask for a mortgage or apply for a car loan or deposit a check and the concierge can help.

"The concierge is not someone who tells you where to go, but helps you get to your destination," explained branch manager Anna Metrik.

Beyond the Wi-Fi lounge is a tablet bar, a release from Hanscom Federal Credit Union states. A variety of tablet brands are available so that visitors can choose the type that is most familiar. The tablets can by used to explore Hanscom FCU’s digital offerings, email brochures, or watch video demonstrations of online check deposit, online loan applications and account access.

The iBranch is located at 47 Middlesex Turnpike beside Subway and the Vitamin Shoppe.

"Our previous Burlington location was in an office park off the beaten track," said Chairman Paul J. Marotta. "This new space is large enough to include meeting rooms for small and large groups."

Hanscom FCU regularly offers free public seminars on financial topics.

Hanscom Federal Credit Union, headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base, serves 56,915 members across the country and overseas through 17 branches, over 100,000 service centers and surcharge-free ATMs, 24-hour telephone service and a web-based branch. The credit union holds over $1 billion in assets.
