Latest Library News: Frozen Sing-Along, Science Blast, Super Mario Party

Veteran’s Day Closure – Monday, November 11th

The library will be closed Monday, November 11th in honor of Veteran’s Day, and will reopen at 10am on Tuesday, November 12th.

 

Beat the Winter Blues at the Burlington Public Library

Daylight Savings ends on Sunday, November 3, but there’s no need to be SAD! Come to Burlington Public Library’s program: “Beat the Winter Blues with Dr. Mischoulon.” Dr. Mischoulon will discuss Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.) and offer ways to beat those winter blues. Watch a demo of our Light Therapy Lamps that are available for check out. Dr. Mischoulon is the Director of the Depression Clinical & Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Joyce R. Tedlow Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Mischoulon will take questions after the presentation. This is a great opportunity to get your questions answered by an expert in the field. The program will be held Thursday, November 7 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. This event is free and open to all.




Youth Services Programs

We have a well-rounded week in store for you with stories and science, building and crafts, two opportunities for preschool play and one for older children who are Mario fans, toys that stimulate baby senses, and a movie that encourages everyone to sing along. We’ll see you there!

 

Preschool Games - Monday, November 4 @ 1:30 pm Join Mary for games that build young bodies and minds. Ages 2-6 will learn to make friends, follow directions, and take turns. This is a small and welcoming group, which is especially good place for shy children to start. Three games every week, with lots of variety from month to month.

 

Lego Club - Monday, November 4 @ 4 pm Jenna has the legos, you have the imagination!

 

TAG (Teen Advisory Group) - Monday, November 4 @ 7 pm Help Nicole plan and prepare for future events.

 

Pajama Storytime - Tuesday, November 5 @ 6:30 pm Come in your jammies and snuggle up to stories and songs before bed. Ages 3-6

 

Teen Cookie and Craft - Wednesday, November 6 @ 7 pm Make a craft with Nicole, while munching on cookies.  This week: 3D Paper Pumpkins.

 

Playing is Learning - Thursday, November 7 @ 1 pm Free drop-in playtime with Family ACCESS. Ages 3-6

 

Science Blast - Thursday, November 7 @ 4 pm Amanda will do experiments with kids. This week: apple science. Grades K-6

 

Baby Sensory Time - Friday, November 8 @ 10:30 am Bring your baby to a playtime with toys that awaken their senses.

 

Teen Lounge - Friday, November 8 @ 10:30 am Kick back with Nicole and friends at the end of a long week. Enjoy games, snacks, and good company.

 

Frozen Sing-Along - Saturday, November 9 @ 11 am Join Amanda for a showing of the Sing-Along version of Frozen, with themed snacks and activities. All Ages

 

Super Mario Party - Saturday, November 8 @ 3 pm Join Nicole for a party featuring Mario games, snacks, and crafts. Ages 8 and Up

Toddler Storytime (18-36 Months) - Tuesdays and Wednesdays @ 10:30 am

Preschool Storytime (Ages 3-6) - Wednesdays @ 11 am
