Letter: Rotary Club of Burlington to Hold 'Knockout Raffle' to Support Causes in Town

By: Letter to the Editor

The following is a Letter to the Editor from the Rotary Club of Burlington

The Rotary Club of Burlington is pleased to announce that they will be having a “Knockout Raffle”.  The Raffle tickets are $20 each and the prize is a $2000 Visa Gift Card.  Proceeds will support all great things that Rotary does for the Community of Burlington.

This past month the club donated $1,000 to Marge McDonald at the Council on Aging to help fund the “Senior Prom” that is being held in April.  In addition to donating to the prom many Rotarians and Interact Students will attend the prom to assist Marge.

The Club also supports the Burlington High School Interact Club. Rotarians spend much of of their time working with the High School Students on Community Service Projects such as Easter bags for the children of the food pantry and socks for veterans just to name a few. This year the club will once again award approx. $15,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors from Burlington High School.  Over the years the club has given out over $500,000 in scholarships.

The Rotary Club does many other amazing things in the community of Burlington. The club delivers fresh produce to the Burlington Food Pantry twice a month which costs about $1,500 annually.  We also sponsor a Concert on the Common and participate in Celebrate Burlington.  The club is also very involved in Burlington Special Olympics and many Rotarians spend a lot of time weekly with these gifted athletes.   We also make donations to many events around town that other organizations are holding. We recently made a donation to the SheDevils Hockey Tournament and will participate in BEF Trivia Night.

These are just a few examples of what the Rotary Club of Burlington does for the community of Burlington.  But we couldn’t do these things without raising funds. So we are reaching out to the residents of Burlington and asking that you consider spending $20 to help us continue helping others!  All you need to do is drop a check in the mail to the Rotary Club of Burlington, PO Box 462, Burlington, MA 01803 and we will mail you a ticket for an opportunity to win a $2,000 gift card!

The drawing will be held on April 1st at the club’s largest fundraiser “Friday Night at the Fights” For information about Friday Night at the Fights see http://burlingtonfightnight.weebly.com
