Ride to Support Veterans in Need

By: Rich Hosford

Calling all motorcycle riders – enjoy a ride with many other bikers and help support a great cause.

The non-profit group Disabled & Limbless Veterans is holding its 4th Annual Support Our Veterans Bike Run this Saturday (rain date Sunday) in Burlington. The ride will begin at 11:30 from the Burlington American Legion on Winn Street. The cost is $20 for riders and $15 for passengers. Walk-ins can register from 9 to 11 a.m. the day of the event.

The ride will have a police escort provided by Middlesex District County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian’s office.

After the ride there will be a pig roast, bar-b-q with music and prizes at the American Legion.

"This is one of our biggest fundraiser, which allows us to take care of our most needy veterans and their families” Disabled & Limbless Veterans found and CEO Michael McNulty said at the board of selectmen meeting this week. “We have a lot of them so this helps a lot.”

The non-profit is a group of veterans and civilian volunteers providing meals, clothing, and shelter to America’s Veterans in need and their families.

Selectman Bob Hogan, who just retired as the town’s Veterans Service Director, praised the group.

“This is a great organization,” he said. “They don’t waste what’s given to them, it goes right back to the veterans.
