Take a Look at the Science of Nighttime at Fox Hill

Interested in delving into the science of the nighttime?

Fox Hill Elementary is holding a Science Night this Thursday to give students an opportunity to learn more about the night sky and nocturnal life.

The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 8:30 p.m. It is free and intended for Fox Hill students and their families.

According to a video by Burlington Public Schools Science Specialist Sean Musselman, Science Night will feature telescopes the students can use to see the night sky, arts and crafts and a giant blow-up planetarium people can go into to learn about the stars and planets. Students will also have a chance to make “straw rockets” and launch them at the event.

There will also be a demonstration of nocturnal creatures with live animals.

Finally, Musselman said the participants would create original constellations and make up “tall tales” to explain their origin.

Science Night is sponsored by the Fox Hill PTO.
