Wind Advisory in Effect Through Wednesday Morning

It may be time to batten down the hatches.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for most of southern New England, including Middlesex District in Massachusetts, that will be in effect until 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

During this time we can expect a southern wind with speeds from 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts has fast as 55 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service says in the advisory that the winds could lead to downed trees and limbs. Power outages are also possible.

“A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph are expected, with gusts between 46 to 57 mph,” the advisory explains. “Winds this strong are capable of downing small tree limbs and branches, possibly causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”
